If there is a gas pipeline near your house, great! Another thing is when your housing is located far from the main centers of communication and infrastructure, the choice of options for organizing heating in this case is limited. Gas, which is the most convenient and cost-effective type of fuel for home heating, can be used in other ways. A successful and justified solution in such situations will be the installation of a gas storage facility on your site. A gas tank for a private house will be a reliable storage of liquefied gas, which can then be used to operate the heating system.

Focusing on the technical capabilities of modern units for storing liquefied gas, the installation of an autonomous gas heating system requires competent design. The subsequent installation of equipment depends on numerous factors, among which the operating conditions of the installation in the future, its efficiency and safety will become no less important.

What are the types of gas tanks, their design and technological features

The gas tank is not just a container for storing liquefied gas. Contrary to established stereotypes, a gas tank is a high-tech installation, the main task of which is not only to store liquefied gas, but also to process it for subsequent use as a fuel for domestic heating systems. Subject to the correct installation of the installation and its subsequent competent operation, the unit is the least dangerous object on your site. A steel cylindrical or spherical container is capable of withstanding high pressure, has acceptable dimensions and dimensions, allowing it to be installed within the boundaries of households.

Unlike traditional power supply systems, this installation allows you to completely make your country house autonomous and independent of engineering and operational networks and communications.

According to the principle of operation, the gas tank is more like the operation of a tank for collecting condensed steam. Taking into account the main physical properties of natural gas, the operation of the installation is based on the following principle:

  • injection of gas into a container under high pressure, sometimes reaching up to 1.8 MPa;
  • liquefied gas under the influence of high temperature evaporates to a gaseous state;
  • the presence of the reactor provides the pressure necessary to supply gas to the pipeline.

In most cases, the gas tank is used to service country houses, cottages and holiday homes during the heating season. In practice, various types of units are used, each of which is designed for specific purposes and tasks.

The cheapest and most practical ground gas tank in operation. This type of installation does not require large-scale engineering and installation work on site. The entire process of installation, installation and connection is carried out without significant material costs. Installation and installation of a gas tank in a private house is mainly carried out at the stage of construction of a residential facility, therefore:

Important have a ready-made design of the gas distribution system, clearly determine the location of the gas tank, taking into account the necessary safety requirements and operation of gas infrastructure facilities.

In settlements and at sites where the access of specialized construction equipment is difficult, large-scale construction work is limited by building density, ground gas tanks are an ideal technical solution. However, for regions where a cold climate prevails and the winter period is long, such an installation scheme is not optimal.

Important! Large frosts and low temperatures for a long time affect the rate of gas evaporation in the installation, which significantly reduces the efficiency of the autonomous heating system in a residential building.

An underground gas tank for our climate is the best solution to the problem, especially since such an installation can be used in almost any region of our country. Otherwise, you will have to spend money on installing additional evaporators or spend money on insulating the tank.

The installation of an underground gas tank is associated with certain technical difficulties, but it has better performance. Normal temperature conditions provide the necessary conditions for gas evaporation. The steel container must be located at a depth below the freezing point of the soil, therefore, for each location, preliminary calculations and engineering geological surveys must be carried out before installation.

You can also pump a larger amount of fuel into an underground reservoir, providing yourself with significant reserves for a long period. The operation of the gas tank is carried out in the usual planned mode, without requiring additional devices and measures to insulate the tank. By placing a sufficiently large container underground, you can free your own site from an unsightly structure, improve the visibility and aesthetics of the local area.

If the task is to organize the supply of gas to several residential buildings, an underground gas tank will completely cope with this task. Usually, to serve a larger number of consumers, a tank with a capacity of 6000 m3 is installed.3.

In addition to differences in the type of placement, gas tanks can have different orientations, i.e. are vertical and horizontal. Vertical structures have not received practical use due to low productivity. This is due to the small surface area of gas evaporation. Stable pressure in a vertical installation is one of the advantages of this design. Vertical gas holders equipped with additional heaters and evaporators are able to provide gas supply for the heating system of small buildings, the area of which does not exceed 150-170 m2. In addition, vertical installation does not take up much space on the site.

The most widespread in our country are horizontal underground gas holders. Large capacity, high performance. In order to prevent a decrease in productivity as gas is consumed, such installations are equipped with gearboxes. An underground gas tank of a horizontal type will be able to cope with the provision of gas in full to a spacious residential building or several cottages.

Choosing a gas tank for your site

Each of us always has our own requirements for the heating system, especially when it comes to a country house. Autonomous heating of a private house on liquefied gas, which is stored and supplied from a gas tank, is an economical and technically competent engineering solution. Before installing a gas tank, it is better to carry out preliminary calculations by determining the following parameters:

  • the optimal amount of gas required for consumption in a private house;
  • optimal dimensions and volume of the tank;
  • container type;
  • financial costs associated with the installation of the entire system on the site.

The diagram shows the approximate location of the underground gas tank, the technical dimensions of the pit, the installation stands and the parameters of the installation itself.

The economic component of heating a private house with a gas tank is as follows. Calculations are approximate, since each residential object has its own initial data.

As an example, you can take calculations for a residential building whose area is 200 m2.

  • average fuel consumption per month is 3-4 liters. per square meter;
  • for the heating season (6 months) each square meter of housing will require twenty-25 l. blue fuel;
  • for the entire period, the costs will amount to 4000-5000 liters;
  • the cost of gas on average in the country is 10-15 rubles / l;
  • the total is 60-75 thousand rubles for the entire season, or 10-12.5 thousand per month.

The accuracy of the calculations is influenced by the number of gas appliances in the house, the power of the boiler and the intensity of use of the entire gas system. Based on the data obtained, you yourself can calculate the required volume of the gas tank. The best option would be to use a ready-made gas tank project and the entire autonomous gas heating system. With the appropriate engineering education, these calculations can be done independently.

Important! All project documentation for the installation of a gas tank on your site must go through the approval process with the gas services. If there are shortcomings and technical errors, the project will be rejected, additional revision will be required.

You can choose a gas tank for your home only in strict accordance with the technical parameters of the future heating system and taking into account the condition of the land. The horizontal gas tank should have a volume larger by 15-20% of the required minimum fuel, while reducing the volume of gas in the tank by half.

It is better to entrust the development of design data to qualified specialists who will not only provide a ready-made working project, but can also carry out the subsequent installation of the unit, connecting the entire heating system. In addition, such organizations usually have the opportunity to formalize the commissioning of the installation in accordance with the technical requirements and regulations.

Independence in such situations is fraught with technical complications, interruptions in the operation of the entire gas supply system in the future.
