Air heaters: gas or electric?

In order to keep the room warm enough when it is cold outside, and conventional heating does not particularly help to warm up, heaters are used. Today, manufacturers offer a huge number of different options: oil, gas, electric. The last two types are the most popular, but few people know how they differ from each other, in addition to the way they eat. Let’s talk about their main features.

Air heaters: gas or electric

Gas heaters: features and benefits

Consider the two most popular models in our store from the Chinese manufacturer Ballu-Biemmedue: GP MC and GP AC. The first device is assembled in Italy and available in GP 10M C for 110 m² and GP 18M C for 185 m². Both run on propane gas or a mixture of butane and propane. Basically, these models are used for heating non-residential premises, vehicles, communications and have a design with increased safety. In addition, they are automatically cooled after the end of work, and the combustion chamber is ventilated before heating.

Model 10M C processes up to 420 m³ of air per hour and consumes only 0.046 kW, consuming a maximum of 0.65 kg of fuel. It weighs only 5 kg, so it is easily transferred to any part of the room or street. The heat output is 10.7 kW. For 18M C, this value is 18.6 kW, and with a maximum air exchange of 520 m³ / h, the equipment consumes only 0.05 kW. The maximum fuel consumption is 1.213 kg/h. As we can see, both devices are quite economical, but this is not the only thing that unites them. The manufacturer has implemented the following technologies:

  • automatic built-in burner for liquefied gas;
  • thermomechanical flame control;
  • direct heating, at which the efficiency is almost 100%.

Let us consider the principles of operation of such devices using the example of this model. The gas air heater (heat gun) consists of a metal case in which the equipment for distributing gas, mechanisms that are responsible for automatic protection against overheating, and a warm air emitter are assembled. The principle of operation is as follows: the gas passes into the diffuser, from where the air flow transfers it to the mixing chamber, in which the combustible mixture is formed. After this mixture passes into the perforated structure of a porous ceramic plate. When the mixture ignites from a spark from the piezoelectric element, it transfers heat to the ceramic element. Then this board is heated to a temperature of 900 ° C, starting to emit infrared waves.

You can buy a gas heater Ballu-Biemmedue GP MC from us for only 11–12.5 thousand rubles.

The second model, GP AC, is already available in five versions for large production areas of 300, 460, 650, 800 and 1,050 square meters. Its configurations are assembled in the same country. The minimum version 30A C with an hourly air exchange of 1100 cubic meters has a heating capacity of 31.4 kW and consumes less than a kilowatt of electricity — only 0.9 kW. The light weight of 10 kg allows you to carry the air heater without any extra effort.

The most powerful of the configurations — 105A C — passes 3,700 m³ of air per hour of operation and at the same time produces 108.7 kW of heat. It consumes electricity even more economically than the previous configuration — at the level of 0.4 kW. True, it will be harder to transfer it, although it is quite realistic — the weight of the device will be 26 kg.

In fact, the series with the designation A differs from M only in the above characteristics, but the features and technologies implemented in the devices are the same. Price range — 21 970–57 4,5 dollars.

Electric heaters for home

One of the leaders in the production of electric air heaters is the American brand Master. In our store, the TOP‑3 in this category are his three models FACT 20, TS 3A, HALL 3000. All of them are presented in the same configuration and assembled in Italy.

FACT 20 is a ceiling-mounted infrared heater with a heat output of 2 kW, which is enough to heat a small room of 12 square meters. meters. The radiation temperature of its short infrared waves is as close as possible to natural solar heating. The absence of air flow will make the use of such a device as comfortable as possible, and yellow halogen lamps will not blind your eyes.

The heating element in the form of an aluminum plate with a built-in heating element is covered with anodes for improved heat transfer. A reflector and a layer of heat-insulating material are mounted on the reverse side. Electric air heaters of other types are not much different from suspended ones. The only significant difference is the way of management. So, devices that are mounted on walls or stand on the floor are equipped with a built-in control unit with a temperature controller and a tipping sensor. Ceiling models are equipped with a remote unit that is mounted on the wall and can control several devices at the same time. The scheme of operation of infrared electric heaters is quite simple.
