Rehau warm floors: installation, installation, cost and overview

underfloor heating Rehau

Despite the fact that the systems of “warm floor” appeared in our country not very long ago, they quickly gained popularity among consumers, making a very worthy competitor to traditional methods of heating. This is not surprising, because heating houses and apartments in this way has a lot of undeniable advantages, including high efficiency and economy.

At present, systems from various manufacturers are on the domestic market, the most popular and well-known of which is the German company Rehau, which produces several types of Rehau underfloor heating.

Types of underfloor heating Rehau

Under the brand name, two types of underfloor heating are produced: water-based and electric-based. In the first case, water is used as a heat carrier, heated to a certain temperature, passing through the contours of the heating system and giving off heat to heated rooms.

water floor with heating and collector
Underfloor heating Rehau water is most often installed in systems with forced circulation. This is due to the fact that heating the coolant to the optimum temperature requires the use of a mixing unit, which cannot be operated without a pumping unit.

This method of heating is mainly found in the private sector, since tapping into the central heating mains of apartment buildings is not allowed due to an increase in the level of hydraulic resistance in the system.

When connected to a pipeline with hot water, the coolant passing through the “Warm Floor” in a single apartment will return already cooled down, which will negatively affect the quality of heating of apartments located downstream of the riser.

At the same time, water Rehau floors have the following advantages:

  • The minimum level of heat loss.
  • High strength and durability.
  • No need for special maintenance and care.
  • The possibility of arranging floor heating, both throughout the room and in its individual sections.
  • The possibility of using various installation options, for example, with pouring a liquid screed or installing pipes at an acute angle.

advantage of underfloor heating in apartmentsUnderfloor heating Rehau electric is a system of two-core self-regulating cables of fixed lengthwith high resistance. Outside, they are covered with a double layer of insulation and a protective braid.

Such a floor is mounted in a layer of cement-sand screed, poured on a surface that requires heating, and it can be used not only in living rooms, but also in outdoor areas of buildings (stairs, terraces, roofs and roofs, open areas, access roads, etc.). for additional weather protection.

For rooms in which the installation of a cement-sand screed is irrational or impossible, Rehau heating mats are intendedwhich are ready-made structures consisting of cables fixed with a constant pitch in the form of turns on a textile mesh.

Such systems are controlled by thermostats — special devices used to adjust the floor temperature.

Pros of Rehau electric floors:

  • Economy through the use of new generation thermostatic equipment.
  • Even and soft heating the entire surface of the floor.
  • The present “German quality”, which is expressed in high reliability and durability of the system.

Among the features of heating systems produced under this brand, there are also it is worth noting:

  • Use of energy efficient advanced technologies at all stages of development and production.
  • Availability of a guarantee for components and accessories.
  • High degree of protectionthanks to which pipes, cables and mats for underfloor heating Rehau are difficult to damage or spoil.
  • Simplicity and ease of installation.
  • Compliance with international and domestic regulations and quality and safety standards.

System design development

In order for the floors to work as economically and efficiently as possible, before carrying out installation work, it is necessary to draw up a project for the future heating system.

Before laying Rehau underfloor heating, the calculation is made taking into account the required power of the heating system, using data on its specific heat capacity as a basis:

In rooms with high-quality thermal insulation, this figure is 70 — 150 W per m2.

Rehau water floor consists of the following components:

  • pipe kit made of cross-linked polyethylene, with increased resistance to high pressure levels, completed with fittings and couplings for mounting connections.
  • Additional mounting elements (retainers, etc.).
  • Devices that control the system (combs, thermostats and temperature sensors).

Laying system elements can be done in several ways:

  • Spiral.
  • Serpentine.
  • In the form of a double helix.

The pipeline is laid in increments of 11–18 cm. In this case, the length of the pipes should not exceed 15 m, otherwise, due to the temperature difference between the initial and final points of the pipeline, its heating will be uneven.

When completing the system, first of all, Rehau pipes for underfloor heating are selected. They play a leading role in the functioning of heating, acting as the main link in the entire heating complex.

In this capacity RAUTHERM pipes are usedMade from high strength crosslinked polyethylene. For greater reliability and durability, their walls have an ethylene vinyl alcohol layer. Their characteristics:

heated strip from a German manufacturer

  • High resistance mechanical influences.
  • Short resistance level heat transfer.
  • Elasticityensuring the absence of creases and kinks.
  • Neutral to chemical environmentsthanks to which the pipes do not lose their performance even when in contact with alkalis and other chemicals.
  • High thermal stability.

For fastening and docking of the pipeline in the system, sliding couplings and Rehau fittings are used, equipped with fittings with a ribbed surface, which in the normal state are unable to pass through the inner diameter of the pipes.

For mounting the connection, special expanders are used, with the help of which the inner diameter of the pipe expands.

In practice, this happens as follows:

  • First of all, a sliding coupling is put on the pipeafter which the expander expands the socket in several steps.
  • Then a fitting is placed on the pipe suitable fitting and using a press, slide the sleeve onto the fitting over the pipe.

A connection of this type guarantees complete sealing of the pipeline, makes the pipes as resistant to high temperatures and pressure as possible.

Advantages of using fittings:

  • Ease and convenience of installation connections using special devices.
  • No rust or rubber sealsreducing the service life of pipes.
  • Possibility of visual control during installation.
  • After crimping fittings can be built into the walls and screeds.
  • Due to the collapsible nature of such a system, fittings can be reused.

Various fasteners are used to fasten the pipeline in Rehau underfloor heating. For example, fixing mats Varionova, which are plates made of rigid polymeric material, equipped with special clips for installation over pipes.

They are cut along the marking lines into fragments of the required area and are joined using the connecting elements included in the kit. The minimum step for laying pipes with a diameter of 14–17 mm in such a system is 5 cm.

Another mounting option — RAUFIX tiresmade of polyethylene of increased rigidity, on the reverse side, equipped with special brackets that allow you to fix the pipeline on the bases of almost any kind.

rehau mats

Their advantage is a small thickness, due to which the total thickness of the floor increases by no more than 5 cm. Tires having a length of 1 m and a width of 4 or 5 cm are mounted on top of the heat-insulating layer in increments of 5 cm.

The main control element of the system is a comb or collector — a device that collects flows and distributes them through pipes. Rehau collectors for underfloor heating are available in several modifications, the optimal of which is considered to be a complete comb, with a thermostat and a flow meter installed on the inlet and outlet collectors.

Installation and installation of a water floor

Rehau underfloor heating installation includes the following operations:

Rehau - German flooring quality

  1. Foundation preparation. Work on laying the underfloor heating system is carried out only after the completion of the main finishing work in the room, including plastering surfaces. The old coating is dismantled along with the baseboards, cleaned of dust and debris. If necessary, leveled with a cement-sand screed. Laying the warm floor is carried out on a dry surface, the differences on which should be no more than 5 mm.
  2. Waterproofing layer devices. In this capacity, you can use a dense plastic film, laying it with an overlap and gluing the seams with tape.
  3. Damper tape gluing. It is laid at the junction of the floor to the walls.
  4. Laying the thermal insulation layer. To create it, you can use penofol, which has good fire resistance, environmental friendliness and moisture resistance.
  5. Mounting fasteners (fixing mats or splints). Their assembly is carried out by analogy with the laminate: “in the castle.”
  6. Mounting comb. It is installed in a switch cabinet connected to a boiler or heating system, after which mounting mats are laid. Places of hidden connections are additionally wrapped with a special fixing tape.
  7. Line gaskets. It starts with connecting to the collector.
  8. Screed pouring. It is poured onto the pipeline in a thin layer, not more than 30 mm. For additional strength of the structure, a reinforcing mesh is used.
  9. After complete curing, the screeds are warm floors can be turned on.

Feedback on the operation

The best criterion of quality and confirmation of the advantages that Rehau’s warm floor has are the reviews of consumers who have “experienced it in practice.” Here is some of them:

Irina, 45 years old, Samara

“I consider Rehau floors to be the best solution for home heating. I have water floors of this brand in my bathroom for about 3 years (area 6 sq. M). Since then — no leaks, breakdowns and problems. I spent about 66$ on everything. Plus installation: 22$. The only weak point: the screed dried for a long time, about two weeks … ”

Sergey, 33 years old, Yekaterinburg

“It was decided to install a warm floor in the apartment not “from nothing to do”, but out of necessity. There was terrible dampness in the bath, cold due to the fact that one of the walls was external. Therefore, Rehau electric heated floor was placed under the tiles. As a result, the result exceeded expectations: the room finally became warm! And my feet are nice. And thanks to the fact that the kit has a thermostat, it is convenient to control this floor. In general, just super! .. ”

Anton, 30 years old,

“Planning the heating of a country house, in several rooms (kitchen, bedroom and bath) they decided to make warm floors. We chose the Rehau water system. Installation of a square meter (with mats, pipes and installation) cost 2230 rubles. So far satisfied with the quality and performance of the floors. The house is comfortable and cozy. And, most importantly, no care for them. So, I recommend! .. ”

The development of modern technologies, the emergence of new, high-tech materials allows you to take a fresh look at heating houses and apartments.

And one of the successful solutions in this area is the use of Rehau water and electric floor systems, which are a balanced combination of price and quality. They are easy to install and maintain and last a long time without breakdowns or repairs.
