How to choose a heat gun?

Heat guns (TP) have significant differences in the principle of operation, power and price. Choosing an effective model that will fully meet the needs of the consumer is not easy.

How to choose a heat gun

The heat gun is selected taking into account the tasks assigned to it. The main factors influencing the choice of TP are the following:

  • time of use per day;
  • characteristics of the heated room;
  • heat source;
  • the specifics of the installation of the device in the room;
  • price.

Good to know:
What is a heat gun?

Under the time of use of the TP is meant the purpose of operation — constant heating of the room, heating for a short time or to perform other tasks.

The characteristics of the room include its volume, insulation, the presence of a heating system and other factors.

Heat source is the type of fuel used in TP. The consumer must decide in advance on the type of the most suitable model of the heat gun — diesel, gas, multi-fuel or electric.

Installation of TP at the facility can be permanent or mobile. This factor is directly related to the dimensions and weight of the heater.

The cost depends on the type of TP, its performance and other features.

When choosing a heat gun, a number of important factors are taken into account. For example, the presence of ventilation in the room, the possibility of equipping a chimney and others.

How to calculate the required power of a heat gun?

The temperature of the heated room and the time during which it reaches the set value depends on the power of the TP. For an approximate calculation, it is enough to know three main parameters:

  • the volume of the heated room (m?);
  • temperature difference (degree C);
  • dissipation coefficient (heat loss coefficient).

It is not difficult to make such a calculation.

The volume is determined by multiplying the length, width and height of the room. These figures are in the passport of the building. It is not difficult to measure the dimensions yourself. All you need is a roll for this.

The difference between the temperature outside and the desired temperature in the room is an ordinary arithmetic subtraction. Subtract the street temperature from the room temperature.

The dispersion coefficient is determined based on the material of the building and the degree of its insulation.

Having all the values, you can determine the power of the heat gun using the formula given in table 1:

What parameters influence the choice of a heat gun

The choice of a heat gun is influenced by many criteria. The main ones are considered to be its power, productivity (heat flow of air), type of TP and energy used for heating.

The power of diesel and multi-fuel TS reaches 220 kW, gas — up to 150, electric — up to 5 kW. We are talking about household heating appliances. In industry, this figure is higher.

The performance of a heat gun is related to its power. If a TP with a power of 2 kW per hour heats a volume of 230 m?, then a 9 kW unit heats 820 m?.

According to the type of execution, heat guns are divided into liquid fuel, gas, infrared and electric. In addition, they can be stationary or mobile.

The energy used to heat the air flow depends on the type of TP — diesel fuel, kerosene, gas, electricity.

Which are the best heat gun manufacturers?

The market is represented by a wide range of heating devices. A worthy place among them is occupied by heat guns. Depending on the manufacturer, they all have differences in quality, characteristics, design.

Monitoring of the products of this line of devices made it possible to identify manufacturers whose products are in great demand.

In the production of electrical transformer substations, the most popular were:

  • Europe — JSC “Interskol” (heat gun Interskol TPE‑5);
  • Sweden — “TIMBERK” (Timberk NIN R5 3M ECO);
  • China — European company “LIT Trading” (Elitech TP 2TM).

The best gas guns produce:

  • Europe (Interskol TPG-10);
  • Italy — the company “MASTER” (Master BLP 17 M);
  • China — European company Rusklimat (BALLU BHG-10).

Manufacturers of the best diesel TP are:

  • Italy (Master B 100 CED);
  • Europe — Teplo Trade company (Profteplo DK-36PL);
  • China (Elitech TP 125 DP Red).
