Polyurethane foam insulation for pipes: advantages and possibilities of the material

Polyurethane has long proved its worth as an effec­tive insu­lat­ing agent, and build­ing boards made of syn­thet­ic raw mate­ri­als, designed for wall and floor insu­la­tion, are a vivid exam­ple of this. But this extreme­ly use­ful sub­stance has one more pur­pose — it is an entry into the insu­lat­ing sys­tem of plumb­ing and heat­ing com­mu­ni­ca­tions. A pipe with such pro­vi­sion prac­ti­cal­ly does not add on weight, but is much bet­ter pro­tect­ed than prod­ucts with a fibrous wind­ing. Thanks to polyurethane, heat loss­es in pipelines are reduced sev­er­al times, which imme­di­ate­ly affects the cost items.

PPU pipes are ready for installation upon completion of production

Unlike a pipe “semi-fin­ished prod­uct” that does not have an insu­lat­ing coat­ing, PPU prod­ucts are imme­di­ate­ly ready for instal­la­tion with­out addi­tion­al mea­sures designed to reduce the ther­mal con­duc­tiv­i­ty char­ac­ter­is­tics. That is why com­pa­nies involved in the fol­low­ing indus­tries pre­fer to work with them:

  • pub­lic water sup­ply and heat­ing;
  • heat net­work sup­ply of under­ground and ground type;
  • trans­porta­tion of gas, oil and oth­er reac­tive prod­ucts;
  • equip­ping enter­pris­es with out­lets and drains.

Before you buy polyurethane pipes, you need to famil­iar­ize your­self with the engi­neer­ing project, which will include not only work­ing, but also aux­il­iary ele­ments, as well as the nec­es­sary fit­tings pro­tect­ed by polyurethane insu­la­tion.

Why is isolation so effective?

The pipe, like any met­al body, is sub­ject to cor­ro­sion, and the syn­thet­ic mate­r­i­al, sweaty adja­cent to the steel sur­face, is able to pre­vent the destruc­tive process. This sig­nif­i­cant­ly increas­es the ser­vice life of rolled prod­ucts, mak­ing it vir­tu­al­ly invul­ner­a­ble to soil mois­ture and pre­cip­i­ta­tion. Resis­tance to exter­nal man­i­fes­ta­tions adds a fin­ish­ing lay­er, which is made of gal­va­nized or dense poly­eth­yl­ene film. It turns out a unique design, where the pipe receives sev­er­al lev­els of pro­tec­tion.

Experts call the insu­lat­ing shell “shell”, which can be in the form of cylin­ders or its halves. Rigid “shell” allows you to avoid the com­plex pro­ce­dure of depo­si­tion of insu­lat­ing lay­ers, which lead to an increase in the cost of the prod­uct. As you can see, PPU pipes are not only effec­tive heat sav­ing and low wear, but also sig­nif­i­cant cost sav­ings, as well as quick assem­bly of ele­ments into a com­mu­ni­ca­tion sys­tem.
